THE SPANISH COAST - COSTA BLANCA

The approximate boundaries are from Valencia in the North down to Pilar de la Horadada in the South.

The climate is exceptional. The temperatures are usually mild and gentle with an annual average of 18ºC. In much of the Costa Blanca the humidity is low.

The beaches are simply some of the best around the Mediterranean and the choice is endless. Many are composed of a wonderfully white sand, stretch for miles and boasts a whole host of water sports.

Behind the coastal region lies one of the most fertile areas of Spain. The serried ranks of citrus trees make this the fruit bowl of Spain. Other trees that contribute to the beauty of the countryside are olive, eucalyptus and carob.

This is a region where the visitor can choose from cosmopolitan resorts that open 24 hours a day or peaceful little places that yawn away the days. The Costa Blanca is one of those regions where each of us can find our place in the sun.

THE BELGIAN COAST

The Belgian Coast is the land area (Vlaanderen) whith which Belgium borders with the North Sea. The total length is aproximately 67 kilometres.

In the north, Het Zwin makes the border with Holland. After that, more to the north, the beach of the belgian coast goes over in Zeeuws Vlaanderen. In the South, the coastline goes over to Frans-Vlaanderen, the french Duinkerke and east of that the so named french "Cote Flamande".

The people are gentle and helpful, the whole region is well worth taking the time to explore and the good living is to be enjoyed.

The belgian coast has sandy beaches and is one of the main touristic areas of the country. There are various important cities all along the coast. The infrastructure has connected well these cities: coastal tram, secundary road, motorway... The apartment blocks on the shore line have an average of 9 to 10 floors, aprox. 30 meters.

EATING OUT

The gastronomy of the Costa Blanca in Spain is a real delight for the senses and is inside the Mediterranean diet, which is very healthy. The principal food is: vegetables, olive oil, fish, flour, rice, fruits. The gentle climate of this region supplies the refrigerator with citrus fruits, the land offers recently-picked fresh garden produce and vegetables and the sea offers a contrast with shellfish, sea beam, grouper fish and sea bass, among a wide variety of fish. Often hidden behind the plethora of rice dishes and paellas that dominate the culinary scene, there are many other traditional dishes which are just as delicious.

The gastronomy of the Belgian Coast is mainly fresh fish like flatfish, sole, codfish, shrimps and so on from the North Sea. There are 3 main fish markets, Nieuwpoort, Oostende and Zeebrugge. Other important dish is also the mussels delivered from Holland. All served with french fries. 80% of the tourism tries this specialty in the coastal restaurants.
